Tunis Airport Transportation

Carthage Airport, i.e. Tunis Airport, is named after the ancient City of Carthage found to the north of the airport. This is an airport where flights are handled quite efficiently and it’s the premier airfield in Tunisia.

There are no hotels within the airport but the airport transport system easily connects to the nearby top notch hotels and resorts. There are several hotels to choose from and bookings can be done at the Tourism Office counter located in the central hall.

Train

The airport is not connected to the train network although you can use the taxis or buses available to take you to the central train station.

Bus

The SNT bus line usually departs every 30 minutes from the airport to the centre of Tunis with the tickets costing less than 1 dinar. The TUT buses on the other hand depart after every 15 minutes and tend to be more luxurious and expensive.

Car rentals

There are several rental companies which have their desks at the arrival hall. Some of the car rental companies include Budget, Avis, Sixt and Hertz. There are also several local companies which may offer lower rates but ensure you check whether the rental price is inclusive of tax. If you want to compare the rates of the several car providers you can easily do so from several websites.

Taxi

At the airport taxi stand you will find metered taxis and it is always advisable to ensure that the driver turns the meter on when transporting you to your destination. A ride to the city from the airport should cost around 30 dinars provided that the meter is working correctly. If you have baggage then you are going to incur an extra cost and there is usually a 50% surcharge after 2100hrs. Never agree to the deals offered by taxi drivers who approach you in the Arrival Hall because you can easily be overcharged.
